Create-a-Crepe Bar!
With everyone’s busy schedule today, we suggest trying something different by hosting a brunch shower around the 10:00 am to 11:00 am timeframe with some delicious crepes that you can make ahead of time. Crepes are easy to make and can be made a day before your event. All you have to do is pull them out and re-heat just before serving.
Ingredients for a basic crepe: 2 cups all-purpose (or whole wheat) flour, 1 cup milk , 6 tablespoons melted butter, 3 eggs, 4 tablespoons sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt.
Process the flour, butter, sugar, eggs and salt in a blender until the mixture is smooth. Add the milk 1/3 cup at a time, until the batter is a liquid consistency. Set batter aside for 20 minutes.
Melt a little butter in a crepe pan or large skillet over low-medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons of batter to the pan and swirl until the bottom of the pan is covered with batter. Cook the crepe for 1 minute, or until the crepe is slightly moist on top and golden underneath. Loosen the edges of the crepe, slide the spatula under it, and then gently flip it upside down into the pan. Cook for 1 minute and transfer the cooked crepe to a plate to keep warm.
Try these delicious items to stuff your crepes with: sour cream, Nutella, cream cheese, jam, bananas, chocolate, and strawberries.
Crepe paper stemmed roses doubles as a baby boy shower centerpiece and nursery décor.
Crepe Paper Rose Bouquet Supplies: Green pipe cleaner or floral wire, floral tape, colored crepe paper streamers, hot glue gun and sticks, ruler, vase.
Steps to create roses:
Place a dot of glue onto the end of your crepe paper and begin by attaching the end of the crepe paper strip around the wire.
- Using your ruler, roll out and cut the crepe paper into 2 foot lengths.
- Gently crumple the strips to make them softer and give them a fabric look, then straighten them back out.
- Start the roll small, then loosen as you continue to give it a real rose look.
- Insert a dot of glue about every 4-5 rolls to keep it from unraveling in your hands.
- Wind the paper around the middle of the base and give a twist at the same time. This will make it look more like a rose and less like a roll. Be patient and after the first few, you should get the hang of it!
- Once the rose is rolled up and you like the look, gather the end piece of crepe paper and add a dab of glue to the outside of the rose and stick it to the edge of your flower.
- When finished with the rolling procedure, you will wrap the stemmed roses with a small piece of floral tape to secure the flower to the stem.
After the shower, you can give the expectant mom her bouquet of beautiful blue roses for her baby boy’s nursery.
Going the extra mile for the expectant Mom will be well received!
New babies require a great deal of planning and you will be giving the expectant mom a special gift when you help get her baby shower thank you cards completed efficiently. Purchase the thank you notes ahead of time and have each guest address a pre-stamped envelope as soon as they arrive at your Blue Sweet Safari shower. Take good notes during the gift opening and when the shower is over the new mom can take home her gift list along with the self addressed pre-stamped envelope, ready to fill out and mail.
Leave a few piles of 3x5 index cards with pens around the party room and ask your guests to fill them out with helpful advice for the parents to be! These notes can be supportive and entertaining for the soon to be mom and dad as they venture into the unchartered territory of their new parent-hood status.
Try the Baby Boy Paper Plate Shower Game!
Playing games helps keep the party focus on friends, family and the excitement of the new arrival of a sweet baby boy. Give each guest a Blue Sweet Safari dessert plate and a crayon. Have each guest place his or her paper plate (white side up) on the top of their head. Using a crayon, each guest will draw a baby boy on the paper plate without moving it from the top of his or her head. When everyone is finished, have them sign their artwork and pass the plates around the room for a few good laughs! The mother-to-be gets to choose the winner and present a nice prize like some bath salts, hand lotion or even a potted plant. Send the plates home with the expectant mom so that she may keep them as mementos.
